Now on, electricity consumers in Faridabad, Gurgaon and Hissar need not run from one office to the next for paying electricity bills. They can now pay their bills sitting at home, through the internet, as the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) launched the online facility for payment of electricity bills on Monday.
"The facility has been made available through DHBVN's website www.dhbvn.com to about six lakh consumers in 18 urban sub-divisions of Faridabad, Gurgaon and Hissar," DHBVN spokesman DP Dull said.
Haryana Minister for Power, Mahendra Pratap Singh, launched the facility, along with Sudhir Rajpal, managing director, DHBVN, Parveen Kumar, deputy commissioner, Faridabad on Monday.
Depending upon the choice of the bank, the website redirects consumers to the concerned bank website for completing the transaction, Dull explained. The payment can be made through internet banking, credit card and debit card through 27 banks.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahender Partap Singh said, “Haryana is predominantly an agricultural state and industries are also growing at a fast pace. Electricity is the lifeline for both of the sectors.”
While addressing the gathering, Sudhir Rajpal, managing director, DHBVN said information about bills for all consumers will also be provided on the website.
The DHBVN spokesman further informed that the facility for spot billing has been started in many towns in Haryana. He said the facility will be extended in a phased manner.
Under this facility, members belonging to the ex-services league and DHBVN officials take metre readings and generate bill on the spot.
